The village of Lazarata is on a five-minute drive from the Mounty Island villas. The village has a traditional Greek village square with a variety of coffee bars and local taverns. In the village are also a bakery, a pharmacy and two petrol stations. There is also a small supermarket and grocery to provide you with your daily needs.
The distance from Lazarata to the first beach on the west coast is 5 kilometers, you will reach first Pefkoulia. A few minutes southwards from Pefkoulia you reach the picturesque Greek village of Agios Nikitas. Here is a lovely pebble beach, a walking path takes you in 20 minutes to another splendid beach called Milos beach!
From Agios Nikitas on, southwards, is the popular and the busy beach of Kathisma. Next to Kathisma are the beautiful beaches of Kalamitsi. The beaches of Gialos, Egremnoi and Porto Katsiki are located completely in the southern part of the island.
Plenty of cultural events are taking place, especially during the summer.
Is taking place every year around the middle of August and lasts 10 days. Folklore festival is some kind of dance competition between dancing groups from all over the world.
Musicians and singers in boats, cross the canal in the Lefkas town offering a great show. This event is organized within the first ten days of August.
Is taking place at the square Karia in the middle of July. Fresh oregano, sardines, tomato, garlic, wine and an orchestra, create/come together for this a special traditional night.
At Karia village during August is organized the representation of traditional wedding, making the local people to remember their tradition and the visitors to be informed about this custom of the past. Every year in August is the representation of traditional Lefkadian wedding, it’s a remarkable event and celebration which relives in all its visitors the past. Many locals are coming to Karya to join this special event.
This feast is organized at Eglouvi village in August. Lentils from Eglouvi are famous for their beautiful and unique taste. During the feast the local people offer to the visitor’s lentils, sardines, olives and wine while an orchestra playing Traditional Greek music.
